The Big Five
The primary objective of the GACG is the co-ordination of members’ contacts and co-operation with the major relevant International Government and non-Government Organisations.
These are:
Interpol
The International Criminal Police Organisation INTERPOL has a dedicated IP Crime Unit (co-founded by GACG and IFPI) and the GACG and GACG Members play an active role in both the strategy and operations of this unit.
WCO
GACG and GACG members have a long history of co-operation with The World Customs Organisation and recently signed an MOU to define closer contacts and joint activities.
WIPO
The GACG is an official Observer at The World Intellectual Property Organisation and a regular participant and contributor at the WIPO Advisory Committee on Enforcement. GACG and GACG members also take part in WIPO training and awareness seminars across the globe.
United Nations
GACG and GACG Members have participated in and contributed to the activities of several UN agencies concerned with Intellectual Property, most notably UNECE and UNESCO on economic, financial and innovation issues and UNODC on IP crime issues. Most recent and successful partnership is with UNICRI – The UN Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute
BASCAP
The International Chamber of Commerce’s initiative ‘Business Action to Stop Counterfeiting and Piracy’ has a growing reputation for international advocacy on IPR enforcement backed up by new and robust research on important issues for the international campaign against the trade in fakes. GACG and GACG members are in close contact and co-operation on several activities with them.
