SPTO hosts meeting in Madrid on Economic Impact
The Chairman of the GACG Network addresses the meeting hosted by the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office to launch the OECD Survey of the Economic Impact of Counterfeiting. The Director General of the SPTO Alberto Casado is on the far left and next to him is Perdo Velasco Martin of DG Trade, European Commission. Several members of the GACG Network were present at the meeting including Union des Fabricants, Andema, Indicam and UAACP.
On 26 and 27 February 2009, the Spanish Patent and Trade Mark Office hosted two important seminars on IPR protection and Enforcement issues in Europe and internationally. Both seminar were supported by GACG members - especially the Spanish national group - Andema, and several GACG members made presentations. The first seminar was a public presentation of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development(OECD) Economic Report on the impact of counterfeiting and piracy. John Anderson, Chairman of GACG, made a presentation in this seminar commenting on the OECD findings and suggested a more rigorous methodology for estimating the level of counterfeiting in the future. The second seminar was the fourth regional \'roving\\\' seminar for the French, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish Patent and Trade Mark Offices held to discuss the promotion of Trade Marks and Designs, and the latest developments in protection of IPRs. Andema, Union deas Fabricants and Indicam - all of the GACG Network made presentations and the Chairman and UAACP participated in the discussions.
